Swift Strikes, while useful, only causes the player to boost their attacking speed by 25%. Torment's Reach is the superior option as it is a cone melee attack that deals crushing damage and reduces the enemy's might. The two options are Torment's Reach, and Swift Strikes. ![]() When crafting the monk, players will only get to choose one of two abilities when starting their game. All of these are great options for a monk. Nature Godlike gets the ability Wellspring of Life, which grants them a bonus to their might, constitution, and dexterity when their endurance goes below 50%. Moon Godlike have the ability Silver Tide, which causes them to generate an AOE endurance heal each time their endurance goes down by 25%. Fire Godlike have the ability Battle-Forged, which gives them damage reduction and causes melee enemies to take fire damage when the Godlike gets below 50% of their endurance. Death Godlike gets the ability Death's Usher, which increases the damage of their attacks when the enemy has less than 25% endurance left. All of these subraces could be useful to the monk. Unlike the rest of the races, the Godlike has four different subraces. Godlike start with a plus one to their dexterity and intellect stats. The Pale Elf gets the ability Elemental Endurance which gives them a resistance to burning and freezing damage. Much like the Aumaua, only one of their subraces are of any use with their abilities to the monk class. Swift Strikes will reduce the Cast Time and Recovery Time of spells if you Multiclass.Elves start with a plus one to their dexterity and perception stats.Classes that have Monastic Unarmed Training will have this replaced with Transcendent Suffering, and you will not be able to select it.Monks make good use of Abilities that increase Stride because they frequently knock targets back, and this allows them to get back in melee range quickly.Using Empower on a Monk will grant both Mortification and 5 Wounds.Monks work best when using Light or No Armor, to increase their Attack Speed even further.Monks have access to near constant interrupts with the combination of Stunning Blow and Force of Anguish.Despite appearances, Monks can use Weapons effectively and their Abilities do work with them just fine.This number can be reduced to 8 with the Lesser Wounds passive. Monks gain 1 Wound each time they take 10 Damage. Wounds are a secondary Resource Monks use to spend on certain Abilities that they unlock as they level up, much the way their Mortification Abilities work.You are considered dual wielding with nothing in either hand and gain the bonus of Two Weapon Style.As Transcendent Suffering bonus increases with power level, monks specialising in unarmed combat should consider using a Nature Godlike for the +1 power level from Wellspring of Life.
